Locally produced Vredestein tires set to stand out in India


Leading Indian automaker Apollo Tires has launched a UK premium tire brand in India. The Vredestein brand will target premium and luxury cars and high performance two-wheelers in India. The tires will be manufactured at Apollo’s tire factories in India, where they have been produced and exported for three years.

Speaking at the launch, Satish Sharma, President, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (APMEA), Apollo Tires Ltd said: “The introduction of the Vredestein brand will certainly strengthen our offerings in the passenger vehicle segments. and two-wheelers in India. The tire import restrictions imposed by the Indian government recently provided a strong business case for us to introduce the Vredestein brand of tires in India for premium cars and motorcycles. Our R&D teams have customized these tires to provide the best safety and driving experience for Indian conditions.

Vredestein?

Founded in 1909 in the Netherlands by Emile Louis Schiff, Vredestein has over 110 years of European heritage. The Vredestein brand is known for its premium and designer tires. Not only are they very durable, but they also look in a class of their own. The tires are designed in the Italian studios of Frascoli Design and by the car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. The brand, after marking its entry into North America, enters India with four products with tire sizes ranging from 15 “to 20”.

Centauro NS and ST

For two-wheelers, Vredestein presented the Centauro NS and ST which are designed at the house of Frascoli Design in Italy. These tires will fit brands like BMW, Ducati, Aprilia, Triumph, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha in India. These tires have been tested on tracks in the UK and India and also reached podiums in various automotive magazine tests in Europe and the US.

Ultrac Vorti & Ultrac

The Ultrac Vorti & Ultrac are tires designed for the passenger vehicle segment and were designed by designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, famous Italian automotive designer and automotive Hall of Fame inductee. He designed some of the top end cars like Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Coupes, Maserati Ghibli, BMW M1, Lotus Esprit S1 and Maserati Bora. The Volkswagen Golf Mk 1 from the famous Back to the Future film series was also designed by him. The Ultrac Vorti will cater for luxury sedans like Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Land Rover and Volvo while Ultrac will cater for premium sedans like Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Baleno.

Vredestein tires will be sold through Apollo’s existing network and premium third-party resellers. In the future, the company might consider creating specialist counters for the Vredestein brand.
