The electric two-wheeler specific tire of Ceat 9 is supposed to be specially designed for electric scooters.

Tire maker Ceat on Wednesday announced the launch of EnergyRide EV, which would be India’s first tire for electric two-wheelers. As the manufacturer claims, this range of tires is specially designed for electric two-wheelers. He claims that the characteristics and performance of internal combustion engine scooters and electric scooters are very different. Therefore, there is a need for a different set of tires for electric scooters. EnergyRide EV is designed to maximize the performance of EV scooters and tires, Ceat claims.

Electric scooters have higher torque than their internal combustion engine counterparts. The higher torque is instantly available to the rider when starting the scooter. Traditional two-wheeler tires aren’t equipped to handle that torque and weight. The tire maker says its line of EnergyRide EV tires feature a unique “track design,” which delivers better high-torque grip and instant acceleration through superior water channeling. It also claims to evenly distribute the force exerted on the tires around the tire, reducing tire wear and possibly helping them last longer.

As Ceat claims, the EnergyRide EV tires are incorporated with a special rolling resistance compound that reduces energy loss during motion. The low rolling resistance provided by EneryRide EV tires helps an electric scooter save energy and provides the desired extended range for the scooter, the company claims.

Speaking about the tire launch, Arnab Banerjee, COO, Ceat, said EnergyRide EV tires address two main concerns of electric scooter owners, namely safety and range anxiety. “At CEAT, we strive to understand the consumer; and EnergyRide EV tires address two main concerns of electric scooter owners, namely safety and range anxiety. We designed EnergyRide EV to handle the instant acceleration of e-scooters while ensuring tire life is not compromised Our low rolling resistance compound also addresses the range anxiety issues that many e-vehicle users face today today,” he added.
